The third week has passed for my time in shanghai and I am reaching the 1st month mark over here! These 3 weeks I have been through some ups and downs. I do know really remember which I have had exactly wrote about, so spare me if you do see repetitive in my entries.
Today the 3rd scenario happened to weiling & Mel:
We (Mel, Weiling and I) wanted to withdraw some cash from the atm machines to settle some traveling payments (a trip to
Ya so that was the scenario. Fortunately the workers in MeTRo were fully aware of the faulty teller machine and helped us well. I called the SHEN ZHEN bank after weiling tries and have to agree that the operator machine was like bullet train lor! She like blablabla qing an yi. Blablabla qing an er.. super fast la! How to ting de dong! So nevermind I tries NONG HENG and I was glad that the operator machine and the operator servicing me was all right.
In the above, I learn that when something happen to one.. He/she will most probably be in a nervous state. Best is that he/she isn’t alone solving the issue. The other person should be very calm and have a clear mind to resolve the issue. I also thought that it will be best if I will get angry and this psychological gesture will ease the unstable state of the affected party (victim). I understand that when things go wrong, being nervous and trying to calm ourselves down will be the last thing in our mind. I do hope that I will remember to stay calm and also not be alone when such dear things ($ issues, etc) happens.
*ok just solve the issue of the stove problem (weiling resolved that after I tried many times).. quite a number of bad issues did happen but I wish to keep this memory behind me. (wallet stuck inside my bag which is locked, power failure, squeezing out of the train, walking in the snow with numb toes) Even if I write them here I also hope that there will be better responses than “ok ok.. oklo” *

IT snowED! can you see.. saturday and sunday!The week ended off with a Saturday outing with a lunch in 超牛where I ate pork chop for 59rmb a mini shopping in 八佰伴 for my 2GB thumbdrive for 115rmb and then to MAC for a meal for 22rmb. And that wasn’t all. The highlight was that we K! haha at HAOLEDI! That place was good! Better than those in

I got my working id card le… yeah! But I look fat wor.. fat fat. But nvm we are going to lose it when we are nearer to leaving the company becoz we want to keep it as souvenir. The first half of the day I was stress by my BOB bcoz he was also stress. In the later part of the day, I joined the panel of interviewers to choose the china interns for Venture-GES bcoz BOB asked me to. It was a great experience hearing the Chinese trying to sell themselves which they really do not sound as good as I guess the Singaporeans. They were mainly killed by “Can you introduce yourself in English”. HAHA.. but one the other hand, I was glad that I need not go through the interview bcoz they were really quite strict in their choosing criteria. They asked very technical questions which I also dunno the answer. Of course my department de didnt ask much technical stuff.
O ya forgot to say.. BOB asked me to help him bcoz he got meeting and a conference call. I was stress yet again. HE really know how to stress me wor. Among the questions I am rather interested to know the ans to .. “If I give you one wire, how would you light up a lightbulb?” Dear all, if you do know the ans or you want to try just tell me I will in the meantime try to ask for the ans. Haha. Skip the other questions**

I almost forgot if not for some reminder message that it is your birthday le! I remember your birthday just that i din yet register today is the 20th of jan le. to Est: WooHoo! If your mummy's subsidizingl, i think you can get yourself a semi-pro de ba! However, it depends on you. Becoz the size matters when you are bringing stuff out. But you always around with a Big Bag so no worries!
to XL: No problem about the address. Everyone has a different degree where she feels fun. I think so far is ok la. I feel more that they are each an experience to me. Afterall, I am not here to have fun but to find the fun in the things i do. Going to do my reading le. THe china internet is sucky! they block many sites. I think i will have a hard time trying to get informations of what i would even want to find.. WIsh me the best!!

to those going to china de (esp gurls) this period is the CnY time there are many pickpockets out there. Keep your valuable safe. Dun try to be alone. Stay alerT! dun be scared! .... as much as i tink i don't have any friends going to china for holiday or what. I should tell jun first la hor. Just incase i forgot. Esp the cny period. There are many pickpocket cases. Sounds really scary.. ya they are just the reality bcoz there is just a great disparity between the rich and the poor... Ya to JUN and to MYSElF.. STAY ALERT..

19/1 – The day started off early with only a few hours of rest, my Family went to the strawberry farm with some others from NTU and NUS pple. Seriously, I don’t have any good impression of the NUS pple. I felt lucky that I am IN NTU. Need not say too much la bcoz the way they present or somehow or rather. I just can’t accept it… ok here is a visit to the strawberry farm.. A long ride on the bus before we finally reach…

18/1 - Oh hi everyone, today I should try to rounds up the first week of my IA experience. Working is really very different from studying, everyday it is like 830-1730 and the day just passed very fast. Besides you would need to wake up early to be punctual for work. Waking up is not a big issue if you have enough rest the night before. However, this is usually not the case for us. RIGHT? ya all of you out there should understand. =)
The first week of work was overall abit slack because in office the necessary equipment needed is to be applied for. They are still in the process of been applied for so my desk is still without the computer access, etc,etc, and the dustbin! I seriously understand the need for paperwork but seriously cant they just accelerate abit arh! Haiz.. the first week of work was quite slack but! The key word is BUT! On the second day, I was asked to write a test report le! Seriously, I dunno what kind of report he wants so I wrote it in a way that I tink it should be written. Hence, the day after I show him the report he scan through asking some question and later say 我看到你的实力了。Later he say, next time I can help him write test reports le.
The company dinner.. was at this place in 东昌路。A floating restaurant. We are very honoured to be able to attend such a big event. A great experience before the work starts proper..

Team A : Edwin and I are in the same Dept but we are under different bosses. There are 3 teams..
The photo taking parts..They have quite weird habits. THey don't YAM SEH! they use their glasses to tap continuous on the glass rotating plate. They drink red wine with sprite (雪碧）.
And well after the dinner and some photo taking and while I was tying the strings of my boots, we are approached by our colleagues. GUESS WHERE THEY ASK US TO GO!! Go to CLUB! Wao first week of work and we didn’t know that we are in for such happening stuff lor! Hence the 11 pple squeezed into a BREAD car. ( 面包车) and on the right over there it was really very funni lor! Hmm but well, although the songs over there abit hard to accept and lousy..On well, they mixed chivus with green tea! I was glad that our colleagues really quite nice.. A low-paying company and hardworking colleagues but they turn out to be happening pple! Ok I shall not update le. The photos are there so see for yourselves! =)

Basically the day at work is very slack- because there are no computer to use. They would need your supervisor to apply this la that la.. very troublesome. why do they need to do so many paper work! arrgghh.. but nevertheless.. i was asked to do a lab report sort of thing on just my second day or work? dun worry it is like 1/2 pages only.. ya it is about noise de. cannot expose too much. ok. n then my boss BOB asked if i can stay back on every tues and wednesday for a conference call with him not. ERm.. what can i say? he sound like unless i am not free then i can dun stay ba..beside those are learning opportunities.. erm nvm i will c how ba. coz anyway he says that next week then i start that. ok that was mainly what is for work...
perhaps i will get busier le and i wun visit here as often! i say first le arh..

Today is my first day at work. First day things always cropped up. The first was that we don't have the right documents and thus the security din allow us to enter the building. We are asked to wait outside where the big wind is blowing us. That was when we are about 30mins earlier. Later after ten minutes we can't take it anymore, Mel beg the security to allow us in with some invitation letter which she did print out. Thankfully, we got into the building not long after..
well, things still don't seems right. Inside the building it was stil very cold.. *shivers.. Please lor. imagine working in the cold. maybe it is just that i have not adjusted myself to the coldness ba or bcoz of my attire? ok this was how i looked..
so was that attire the ME cold?? shouldn't be ba.. haha. ok nvm after a short orientation by the friendly HR personnel we got to know the boss.. deputy GM. he was the third batch of NTU student lorh. HOPEfully he will really guide us. BUt first day he din really say much. we were introduce to our various bosses. mel's call SEVEN. funny hor? BOLIn got JAckie while Edwin got Rodel - a philipino.. Me got BOB who is as tall as me! he is mainly in charge of doing mech parts de. but he personally is a graduate in computer engine.
today i know how to check the bank atm counter for deposit and withdrawal! coolz right! Also at the same time i scare that i will be tested and asked to check one in front of my boss! BOB. luckily he only ask how big is the screw.. i said 12 + - 2 but he say so unpro.. it is M3 and M4. ok i guess it is my turn to bath le..

Experienced my first power failure just now at ard 9+pm. We are the second to experience blackout right after the downstairs one lor. When the blackout came, Mel mama was bathing. Luckily she bath hao le so not that bad. And next was me to bath. The water heater failed badly and thus I can only bath with cold water and boiled hot water. I wanted to do the salon style of bathing my hair and just wipe body. Things turn bad because my planned don’t work out as planned. After some changes, I was very cold after the bath. *shivers.. don’t try this at home lorh. Treasure your HOT water. Ok just a short entry. I need to turn in soon le tml is working day le! I hope I have good colleagues..

Well, it is just one more day to my official day to start work le. For those who dont know i am not going to Fudan University to study yet. That study part will only start in late february. However, it is expected that we would be going to work 5 days a week. I am not too sure yet must see what my company says.. i know i am unlike my other fellow friends in singapore. CHarLene mayb going to batam for work. I am happy for her! hope she comes to shanghai. Den char get your own boots! =p
today xiao shen came( the agent who got us our apartment) so we chop chop settle the questions that we have about the house for the final time. We ordered pizza for our lunch because we din prepare any and din cook any. the pizza isnt as nice as those in singapore although they might just be abit cheaper? ya spend 40.60rmb to share with ciming and my dear roomie who they are also my papa and fellow "xiaomei".. mama mel add her salad! she is so healthy right!! ok after that we took a cab with the guys to 家乐福 (guess what is that) to get some more stuff for the house needs. WAO spend like another 200+rmb lorh. We shopped quite long over there and made Kelvin's father waited for us at his hotel because he was on a business trip today instead of tomorrow (sun). so we had a late dinner! 9pm lor at 避风塘。 his papa was very friendly and treated us the ten of us to a big feast! it seems like that is our orientation le wor. that place serves quite nice food but abit far away from our place. after which we walked quite a distance with the big wind blowing directly to our faces. CIMIng papa was very funni lor! * i'll try to update with photos when i get them but ya she covered herself until almost no one can recognise! haha.. den we took like almost the last train back home at 11+. reach home le.. seh seh..

静安寺...
11st Jan – this day we got 2 places to visit hence we will be meeting the guys(living 2 floors downstairs of us)
to go to 静安寺 and七浦路. The temple houses mainly the Buddha. So since we are there we just pray also lorh. Hopefully 近水救得了近火 =)
after some photo takings we set off to 七浦路. OMG! That place hor is really different from the one we visited in the past day. DRASTIC. Along the road, weiling and I saw a begger. He/she just lie on the road. In the middle of it, between the roadside food stalls lorh! Can u imagine the sight! Plus the weather is so cool lorh. Haiz. The rich and the poor. What can be done. I am helpless.
This shops in 七浦路 sells things that can bargain de! But I find that I am super poor in bargaining. I feel abit bad for the people who are selling. Are the products really that cheap or are they really price high?? Mel is good at it lorh! She win le. Show the intention of buying first. Step 1: walk away even if u really like it and pray that the person call you back! Usually she would. Step 2: show that you have like only that amount of money only.. dunno if there is a step 3. ok after that we went to another building that building got a lot of boots and bags.. haiz! The boots are really cheap here you know! Can get at erm I tink 30sgd and below? I din ask the price there bcoz I am seriously looking for a trenchcoat! I hope I get one soon. *pray
Ok today din shop much yet bcoz I din get much things! Only spend 102rmb for 3 items? That is little right? haiz. Others like spend a lot lor! Erm, just just now 4 pple try to wash clothes damn funni! Too bad I din snap a pic! Wasted! My family…

10th Jan – this is the first day I step to a further place. For those who have been to shanghai it is a place call 人民广场 and from there we walked quite a distance to 南京东路 and near to 黄浦江. A petty it was quite misty and we din get good shots there. Anyway in a kind of like departmental store, the 4 of us bought boots! Haha I wonder if I would wear them in

7th Jan – boarding the plane and gg to shanghai le! going on this GIP trip we are told to expect to be meeting up with many problems..luckily I was mentally prepared to face with many obstacles. Abit suay.. I got my first on the plane! This idiot me kept my wallet in the white Fila bag which was locked Wah kao! I got abit nervous but weiling and Melissa were beside trying to help me in whatever they can. Thank god! I got my key wrap ard the wallet and not inside the wallet so I use my finger to try to get the key n put it out thru the small opening to unlock loh! So small fingers are wonderful at times! =) not long after the second obstacles came..Bcoz I board the plane abit late when I check my hand carry luggage and everything I was called to board the plane with my seat number. 22E…and thus I switch my phone early and cant read my blessing from you all out there..n after reaching PUDONG GUO JI JI CHANG.. I switch my phone on and A LOT OF msges came in so I tot I might just as well go out le den read the msges.. so then when I was out, when I wanted to read.. OPERATION FAILED >>> ARGGHh.. I was hit by the second hurdle! My phone inbox is done! Haiz. Wat can I do.. thankfully, I met wenz at the shanghai gip office.

8th Jan – the day started quite late.. but I got a bad cough le so I last person to slp yet first person to wake.. this day we settled more apartments issues and went to metro.. haha there is a METRO .. this metro is like a giant like dat. Yar but this was the special thing.. bought a lot of stuff for family use.. I called MELISSA
9th Jan- ok finally this day the landlord came with the internet person. So this is the day where we got our internet connection up! Dunno why but the internet took a day to be set up lo when we did it all the same way! Aiya dunno la. It is a day at home and never go out before. Envious of the guys who went out to shop and bought their trenchcoat. I also want one lorh!!
